FM’s Herbert Named Scholar All-America

Sophomore Environmental Science major honored for prowess on mat and in classroom

LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall sophomore, Justin Herbert, of New Milford, PA (Blue Ridge High School) was named an National Wrestling Coaches Association Division I Scholar All-American when the team was announced in early May. To qualify for the honor, wrestlers must have at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA, been an NCAA qualifier or won 60 percent of his total schedule - and must have competed in at least 60 percent of said schedule.

Herbert, who majors in Environmental Science, was well above the minimum required Grade Point Average, and posted a 16-10 record for the Diplomats grappling in the 165-pound weight class. He recorded four pins and four major decisions for Franklin & Marshall this past season. The Diplomats wrapped their campaign at 7-8.

57 wrestlers from 38 schools were honored. Herbert's weight class, along with the 197-pound weight class, were the most heavily represented, with ten wrestlers pinning down the honor.
