Wrestler Nation to have 4 Representatives on SCVWA Dual Team

This weekend in Bakersfield the annual association duals tournament will be held, and Wrestler Nation will be well represented with four wrestlers on the team. Nathan Nguyen will compete at 105 lbs this weekend for Team SCVWA. Nathan, who was a member of the Cadet National Team last year, is coming off a fine performance from this past weekend Cadet State tournament. Nathan finished 4-2 and in the Top 8 in his weight class. He pinned the eventual runner up in the 2nd round of the tournament. Nathan finished 3rd in CCS and was a Santa Clara Valley Athletic League Champion. Abe Matsui will be competing at 130 lbs. Abe also had an outstanding performance this past weekend. Abe, who competes for Westmont High School, went 6-1 to finish tied for 5th in his weight class. Due to the point procedure, he finished 3rd in his pool, despite defeating the person who finished 2nd in his pool.

Cody Rodenbaugh will compete at either 130 or 135 this weekend. Cody completed the third part of the triple crown in San Jose this past weekend. Cody was a Folkstyle Fros/Soph, Cadet Freestyle, and Cadet Greco-Roman State Champion. Cody, who is a Freshman, is the first from Wrestler Nation to ever complete the triple crown. Borislav Novachkov will compete at 135 lbs. This is his third time on Team SCVWA. Boris has had a successful Freestyle season with 3 state championships. Two weeks ago at the Open Championships Boris won both the Freestyle and Greco-Roman competitions at 132 lbs. At the Jr. Filas in San Jose Boris went 5-0 to capture first place. Boris is a 3x National Champ here in the United States.

The state association duals is a competition between the 16 regional associations here in California. Last year Team SCVWA placed 2nd in Freestyle and 1st in Greco-Roman.
